Evelyn I. Simard

NEW DURHAM, N.H. -- Evelyn I. (Nelson) Simard , age 79, of New Durham, N.H., died Sunday at her home, surrounded by her family. She had a lifelong relationship, then marriage with the love of her life, Gerard A. Simard, who died on Oct. 21. She was also the wife of the late Harry Lambert. Born in Swampscott , she was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Hodgdon) Nelson. She was raised in Lynn and attended Lynn schools. She had also lived in Lebanon, Maine, before moving to New Durham in 2015. Evelyn had worked for Holgar Hanson in Lynn, Signal Manufacturing in Lynn and Salem, Lynn Hospital Radiology Department for 18 years, and for General Electric in Somersworth , N.H., for eight years until her retirement. She enjoyed time spent with friends and family dancing at the Yankee Club in Peabody . She enjoyed Broadway musicals, dining out, spending time with her family, and her very special poodles, CoCo #1 and CoCo #2. She is survived by her aunt, Marjorie York of Lynn; cousins; Judith Robertson and her husband Al of Lynn, Bradley York and his wife Maureen of Lynn, Frank York and Ann Mulcuch of Wolfeboro, N.H., and Marsha York Dewhurst and her husband George of Alton, N.H.; her brother-in-law; Paul Simard and his wife Paula of Beverly; her sister-in-law; Donna Simard of Chicago; and her lifelong friend Joanne Rigol of Lynn. She was predeceased by her uncle, Francis W. York, Sr.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law; Albert and Laurentia Simard; her brother-in-law, Moe Simard, and her sisters-in-law; Gloria Simard and Alice Macek. Service information: Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 12 p.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home , 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery . Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., prior to the funeral.
