Essex County Assistant District AttorneyLYNN-Mr. Frederick R. "Freddy" Cronin, Esq., of Lynn, died Monday afternoon in the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine A. (DesRosiers) Cronin, with whom he shared over 48 years of marriage.Born in Lynn, Freddy was the son of the late Dennis and Theresa (McKeon) Cronin. He was a graduate of Boston College High School Class of 1953 and later graduated from Tufts University. He received his Law Degree from Boston University. He was a lifelong resident of Lynn. He was a proud Army Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.Prior to his retirement, he served as Assistant District Attorney for Essex County for many years. Prior to that, he joined the practice of the late William Weber and later opened his own private practice. He also worked in the Law Department for the City of Lynn and taught Criminal Justice courses at North Shore Community College, Marian Court College, and Harvard University.He was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and a lifetime member of the Reading Rifle and Revolver Club and the Lynn Fish & Game. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed canoeing, music, painting seascapes, and had an interest in astronomy.In addition to his wife, he leaves his brother, David Cronin and his late wife Frances of Peabody, his sisters, Marion Dorgan and her husband John of Lynn and Denise Stacey and her husband Robert of Peabody, his brother-in-law, Rev. Philip DesRosiers, Ed. M., of Lynn, and several nieces and nephews.Service Information: Freddy's Funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St. LYNN on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated by his brother-in-law, Fr. Phil, in Saint Pius V Church at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
