Calabash, NC - Geraldine C. (Banaszewski) Catoggio, of Calabash, NC died Saturday March 23, 2024, two days after her 88th birthday. Gerry was born in Dundalk, MD to the late Joseph and Anna (Dopkowski) Banaszewski. She was the wife of 63 years to the late Joseph Catoggio Sr., who predeceased her in 2022. Gerry met Joseph when he was stationed in Maryland, while serving in the Navy. They moved to Joseph's home town of Lynn, MA and raised their family there. She was a great cook who was devoted to her family, and always generous to many charities and family friends. She enjoyed gardening, target shooting, and bowling. Gerry and Joe retired to Ossipee Lake in NH, then later to North Carolina.
Gerry is survived by her daughter Nancy Murphy, daughter Carla Held, son Joseph Catoggio Jr, son Paul Catoggio, daughter Tara Schoettle, her grandchildren; Brendan Murphy and his wife Lauren, Ashlyn Schoettle, Alyssa Schoettle, Jason Catoggio, Talia Catoggio, and her brother Carl Banaszewski. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joseph and her sister Mary Reiss.
Service Information: A funeral service will be held for Gerry on Tuesday April 2, 2024 at 5PM at SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME 426 Broadway (Rt129) Lynn. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2-5PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Online guestbook at www.Solimine.com.
