1962 - 2025
Lynn - John J. Silvia, 62, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, Massachusetts, with his sister Margie and longtime friend Richard by his side.
Born on October 24, 1962, in Fall River, Massachusetts, John was raised in Somerset and made Lynn his home for the past 30 years. Throughout his life, he brought joy and warmth to those around him with his adventurous spirit and boundless compassion.
John had a zest for life that was evident in everything he did. He found exhilaration in roller coasters and skydiving, and serenity in flying kites under open skies. A passionate traveler, he embraced new places and experiences with open arms. But perhaps nothing captured John's heart more than animals-especially cats. He had an unwavering devotion to caring for stray or homeless cats, never hesitating to offer them shelter and love.
Those who knew John will remember his signature farewell: "Love you." Whether heading out for a quick errand or embarking on a long journey, he never missed the chance to express affection. When asked why he always said it, he would reply simply, "Well you never know if you'll have another chance." That sentiment reflected the depth of his care for others and the way he lived-with intention, kindness, and heart.
John is survived by his sister Marjorie Depontes and her husband Joseph of Fall River; his brother Frank Silvia and wife Robin of Fall River; and his life partner Steven Kucharski of Clearwater, Florida. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry forward his memory with love.
He was predeceased by his parents David Silvia Sr. and Frances Miller Silvia; as well as sisters Brenda Ouellette and Christine Silvia.
Per John's request, a private graveside service will be held.
In honor of John's lifelong love for animals, donations may be made in his name to your local animal shelter.
A heart that touches others lives forever. Think of John once in a while-and may the tear you shed today turn into a smile tomorrow.
