Marilyn W. O'Connell, 77

1944 - 2022

Lynn - Mrs. Marilyn Woodfall O'Connell of Lynn passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, at Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 77. She was the wife of the late Anthony G. O'Connell with whom she shared 36 years of marriage. She was born in Salem and raised in Lynn. She was the daughter of the late Raymond H. Woodfall of Lynn, MA and Marguerite F. (Sullivan) Woodfall of Salem, MA.

She is survived by her three children; Christopher A. O'Connell of Salem, MA, Colleen R. Mello and her husband Jason, along with her two granddaughters Kaleigh Lyn Mello and Leighton Raye Mello, of Derry, NH; and Jeffrey W. O'Connell of Lynn, MA.

She is also survived by her best friend Mary (Dow) Doucette of Lynn, MA. She is also survived by many friends, family and cousins.

Marilyn was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1962. She worked in administration at Lynn Hospital where she met her husband, Anthony. She later worked for the telephone company in the accounting department and at O'Connell Business Services until her illness made it impossible for her to do so.

She was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to raising her three children. She never missed a game or school event and was a girl scout leader for Troop 875 in Lynn. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She organized the Lynn Woods Playground Fourth of July Parade for many years. She loved reading, animals, walking the beach collecting sea glass, and tracing her ancestry. She made every holiday and family event feel special. She was always helping others and tried to bring joy into the lives of everyone.

She will always be remembered and lives on in our hearts forever.

Service Information: Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, from 4-8P.M. at the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St.(Rt. 1A) Lynn.
