Meredith Myserian Obituary
Meredith Jean Myserian
December 26, 1928 - July 2, 2025
Lynnfield - Meredith Jean (Dole) Myserian, age 96, passed peacefully on July 2, 2025 in her home with family by her side. She was born in Haverhill, MA to Oscar R. and Stella N. Dole.
An accomplished artist, Meredith graduated from Vesper George School of Art in Boston and studied at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown with instructor Henry Hensche, and the Museum School of Art in Boston. After graduation from Art School, she was employed as a greeting card designer, as a designer of emblems for various camps and organizations, and as an illustrator for a shoe and handbag company. In addition, she worked as a drafter in the Engineering Department of Factory Mutual Insurance Company.
She was a member of the Lynnfield Art Guild, the Danvers Art Association, and the Peabody Art Association. She favored scenes of nature and humankind's place within it. Her artistic talent encompassed many media: oils, acrylics, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink, and, her favorite, watercolor. She also stenciled on wood and metal, crafted wreaths and flower arrangements, and created her own greeting cards. She enjoyed working "en plein air" in order to capture the nuances of nature. Her work has been displayed in the North Shore area and on Cape Cod. Meredith has received many awards for her work. She painted all over the world, making lasting friends as she did so.
Meredith was a member of the Poetry Society of New Hampshire and the Lynnfield Writing Group. She wrote many short stories and poems and her work has been published extensively in anthologies, magazines, and newspapers.
Meredith's beloved husband Charles died in 1995. They were married for 39 wonderful years before he passed. Together, they sailed locally, in Bermuda, and in the Caribbean and travelled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe.
After Charles died, Meredith continued to travel. She spent several weeks each summer in Cape Cod and stayed a month in Sarasota, Florida each winter. Among her most recounted cruises were those to Alaska, to Panama, and along the Seine River in France. She vacationed throughout much of Europe. One year, she travelled with family from Paris, France to Dole, France, from where her family originated centuries ago (in the 14th century), and then on to a village in the French Alps where she stayed in a friend's 700-year-old castle and hiked in the Alps. She was, at the time, in her mid-eighties.
Meredith loved her family very much and spent a great deal of time planning and hosting reunions and special events. Holidays were a particularly favorite time for her. Her delicious meals and lovely home, decorated with her own seasonal paintings, wreaths, paper mache pumpkins, fabric turkeys, and hard-boiled eggs to crack in joyful competition with family, were a delight to her family and friends. She was well-known for her picture-perfect turkeys and roasts and incredible baked pecan rolls and pies.
Meredith had a giving, generous nature. She volunteered a great deal of time to organizations and clubs. Each year, she sponsored college students in need which gave her great joy. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Oscar R. Dole and Stella N. Marshall, her husband Charles R. Myserian, and her brother Winston R. Dole.
Meredith is survived by her daughters, Susan (John) Tomich and Joan Dillon as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
