Nancy Wilson Obituary

Nancy Wilson, 88

1934 - 2023

Nahant - Nancy Wilson was born in Boston on December 30, 1934. She died peacefully, with strength and grace, surrounded by her family, on January 7, 2023, in the Nahant home where she grew up.

As the daughter of the late Philip Clark Wilson and Helen Snow Wilson Goddard, Nancy was raised, and lived a full life, as a fourth generation Nahanter.

Nancy graduated from High School at Northfield School for Girls and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College. She worked at Mass General Hospital conducting cancer research, and later in the lobster and firewood businesses.

Nancy was a natural athlete, competing on the basketball, field hockey and swim teams as a student. She later became an avid and passionate runner, completing the Boston Marathon and hundreds of other of road races over the years. As an elite runner in her age group, she regularly placed first in her category well into her 80's.

Nancy loved to knit, garden, swim in the ocean, and was proud of her work on the Nahant Arts Committee, Nahant Council on Aging, Nahant Cemetery Committee and especially as a member of the North Shore Striders and New England 65+ Runners Club.

Although she held various occupations and roles in her lifetime, none were more important to her than that of mother and grandmother. Nancy is survived by her son James M. Marsh and his wife Jennifer McKay Marsh of Nahant, and her two daughters, Susan C. Snow and her husband Daniel Desmond of Nahant, and Linda Letourneau and her husband Daniel Luechauer of Marston Mills; four grandchildren, Lillian Luechauer, Rose Luechauer, Madison Nancy Marsh, and James Marsh. She also fulfilled a special role as the matriarch of the family and cared deeply for her niece Betty Anne, nephews Robert, Paul and David, and all of their children.

She was predeceased in death by her brother Fredrick A. Wilson, and by, Louis J. Letourneau, Jr., and James R. Marsh.

Service Information: A private memorial service and garden party will be held in June. Donations in her memory can be made to Care Dimensions at giving.caredimensions.org. Online obituary at www.Solimine.com.

Nancy was one of the first people I met when I moved to Nahant. Her straight forward approach to life (and people) was refreshing. She was such an amazing person. David and I will miss her.

Without the assistance of Nancy, the Nahant 30K Road Race would not have happened beginning in 2005. Her sage but kind advice and her knowledge of Nahant shaped the race into a major New England race and a positive contribution to Nahant.
In the early years of women only races and races with a newly added women's division, Nancy was always there, ready to run and eager to cheer on her teammates. All of us in the North Shore Striders will miss Nancy very much, and treasure all of our memories of this very special woman.

Nancy was a treasure in Nahant. Will miss her on the sidewalk running on the beach sunning and swimming and great memories of her out early as the sun was rising on the ocean lobstering. Rest In Peace Nancy
