Ramona Viger Obituary

PEABODY -- Ramona J. (Greenough) Viger, age 90, of Peabody, formerly of West Lynn, died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Archie B. Viger. Born in Dorchester, Ramona was the youngest of six children of the late Frederick and Mary (Mathews) Greenough. She graduated in 1945 from Dorchester High School for Girls. In 1948, while attending a Naval Valentine's Day dance in Boston, she met the love of her life, Archie Viger. Marrying in 1949, they lovingly got to share 50 years together until Mr. Viger's death in 1999. With their love of music and dancing, for many years they loved going to Saturday night dances at the Moose Lodge in Salem. Mrs. Viger took pride in being a wife and mother. Her tireless dedication to her husband and raising her seven children were truly her biggest accomplishments. She taught her children to be kind, caring and to always but other people's needs first. Until her recent illness, she enjoyed playing cards with her children and with her grandsons Mike and Mark, especially during the holidays. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Viger) Epstein and her husband Robert of Peabody, and her sons, Donald Viger of Peabody, David Viger, Sr. and his wife Pamela of Lynn, Norman Viger of Peabody, Ralph Viger and his wife Ellen of Peabody, and Steven Viger and his wife Deborah of Lynn. Mrs. Viger was also the mother of the late Richard Viger of Lynn. She is survived by ten grandchildren, Michael and Mark Epstein of Peabody, David Viger Jr. of Milford, N.H., Lori (Viger) Onessimo of Lowell, Jennifer Viger of Milford, N.H., Jason Viger of Portland, ME, Heather (Viger) Trainor of Lynn, Rachel Viger of Groton, Victoria Viger of Colorado, and Melissa Viger of Lynn, and also six great-grandchildren, Madison and Ryland Viger of Milford, N.H., Ava Jacques of Lowell, Isaiah Ferguson of Milford, N.H., and Christopher and Sophia Trainor of Lynn. Mrs. Viger was the sister of the late Robert Greenough, Alan Greenough, Rebecca (Greenough) (Anderson) Peterson, Ralph Greenough and Richard Greenough. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who affectionately called her their Aunt Monie and Aunt Ramona. She will be sadly missed by many friends and neighbors as well. Rest in peace Mom, it's time to put your dancing shoes back on and go dancing again with Dad who is patiently waiting to dance with you again. Visiting hours will be in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 4-8 p.m. Mrs. Viger's funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
