Richard Nadworny Obituary

Richard C. Nadworny, 90

Lynn - Richard C. Nadworny, 90, of Lynn beloved husband of the late Barbara (Roy) Nadworny and loving son of the late William and Irene (Dankowski) Nadworny died peacefully on October 17th after a brief illness surrounded by his family. Born, raised and educated in Lynn he was a graduate of St. Michael's Grammar School, Breed Jr. High and Lynn Vocational and Technical School and attended Brewster Academy in Wolfboro, NH. Richard was a veteran of the Korean War having served aboard the US Koiwa ATF 72 for 4 years and served 2 years in Iceland and Newfoundland and then transferred to New London, Ct. Submarine Base serving on the submarine US Spikefish for 6 months and then on the submarine rescuer vessel US Sunbird ASR 15 until his discharge in 1954. Richard continued his education at the New England Institute of Funeral Directing and Embalming and worked for the former T.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, prior to starting his own business of over 65 years of dedicated service to the Greater Lynn area.

Richard was a true West Lynner who enjoyed boating in his younger years. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of his life.

Richard served as a member of the Park commission for 6 years, and the Pine Grove Cemetery Commission for 12 years and retired cooperator of Eastern Bank for 30 years. He was a member of the Lynn Democratic City Committee and a life member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 56 and was instrumental in reorganizing the post in 1955 and served as past State and Post Commander, a member of the Franco-American Veteran Post 12 and Amvets Post 161, American Legion Post 6, Life member of VFW Post 2346 of Saugus, Life member of the DAV Chapter 64 and honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Valladolid Council #70. A communicant of the former St. Michael's Church. Richard was bestowed as Polish man of the year from St. Michael's Polish National Alliance Lodge 630 and Veteran of the year from the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 56.

Richard is survived by William J. Nadworny, Richard C. Nadworny Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Boxford, Maura J. Falangas and her husband Stratis and Paula A. O'Connell and her husband Michael all of Nashua, NH, his nine grandchildren, Lauren Ogar, Andrea Kaylor and her husband Kevin, Kristin Orlich and her husband Chris, Anthony Falangas and his fiancé CeCi Munoz, Danielle Philipp and her husband Drew, Erin O'Connell, Michael O'Connell Jr., Patrick and Matthew Nadworny, and great-grandchildren Liam, Marcus and Nathan Philipp, Dylan and Jace Orlich and Sienna Kaylor.

Richard was a loving husband, devoted father and loving grand/great grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Nadworny Funeral Home, 798 Western Avenue, Lynn Saturday at 9:00AM followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church at 10:00AM. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday from 4PM-8PM. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Mary's High School Development Fund 35 Tremont St. Lynn, MA. 01902.

Dear William, family and friends of Richard´s; on behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at Richard´s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow "Bubblehead" leaves on Eternal Patrol. We are grateful for Richard´s service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. He served with honor aboard the Richard served on the USS Spikefish SS-404, and the USS Sunbird ASR-15 (Submarine rescue). To our "Brother-of-the-Phin" we say, "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Fair Winds and Following Seas." Thank you for your service to our country.
