Lynn, MA - Rita Mildred (Cianciulli) Flanagan, age 93, of Lynn, died Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Charter Senior Living in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late James J. Flanagan with whom she shared 41 years of marriage and predeceased her in January of 1996. Born in East Boston, in 1931, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Grasso) Cianciulli. She was raised and educated in East Boston and Revere and graduated from Revere High School in 1951, where she was a tumbler on the cheerleading team. She later attended North Shore Community College. Rita was an at home Daycare Provider with Catholic Charities for many years. She was an excellent cook and talented seamstress, often being called upon to make alterations on wedding dresses and prom dresses for her family and friends. She enjoyed word search puzzles and tending to her yard, but her greatest joy was taking care of children.
Rita is survived by her loving children, former Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy of Lynn and James J. Flanagan and his wife Kimberly of Wolfboro, NH; her beloved grandchildren, Colin Kennedy and his fiancée Natalia Olivera, Mia Kennedy and her companion Nick Schickle and James J. Flanagan; her sisters-in-law, Mildred "Casey" Cianciulli and Miriam "Mimi" Cianciulli and her many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Salvatore and Martin Cianciulli and Sophie Winn, and the aunt to the late Rhonda Falzone..

Service Information: A Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 9a.m. from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10a.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
