Roy Stevens Obituary

Roy F. Stevens, 81
1943 - 2025
Rochester - Roy F. Stevens, 81, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 12, 1943, in Lynn, Massachusetts, he was the son of Matthew and Dorothy (Gay) Stevens.
Roy lived a life defined by craftsmanship, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. A passionate Harley-Davidson rider, he cherished every ride - whether a casual weekend trip to Laconia or a special journey to Martha's Vineyard - always happiest with the wind on his face and good company beside him. He was equally at home on the water, spending countless hours scuba diving, boating, and embracing the outdoors he loved so much. Roy was a proud member of the Volunteer Yacht Club in Lynn, MA, and the Elks Lodge 1393 in Rochester, NH.
A gifted and meticulous carpenter, Roy left his mark on many places throughout the community, including the Johnson's Family Property, RC Griffin, West Lynn Creamery, and the General Electric plant in Lynn, where he also served on the Safety Committee. He approached every project with patience, precision, and a true craftsman's eye-turning ideas from imagination to paper to wood with a rare and remarkable skill.
Upon his retirement in 2012, Roy and Karen moved to Rochester, NH, where they embraced a quieter chapter of life while staying close to family, friends, and the outdoor activities they enjoyed together.
Roy's generous spirit, steady presence, and devotion to family, friends, and animals touched the lives of all who knew him. His love for fishing, boating, and the simple joys of life will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Stevens, and by his grandparents, who lovingly raised him from childhood.
Roy is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 36 years, Karen (Sjoberg) Stevens; his children Lisa (John) Lynch, Daniel (Jill Wilkins) Stevens, Richard Stevens, Kris (Steve) Parker, and Gretchen (Pat) Wallace; his brother Roger Stevens; his grandchildren John (Courtney King) Lynch, Jessica (Tim Godbout) Lynch, David (Shannon) Stevens, Derek Stevens, Ellie and Kara Stevens, Connor and Ashley Wallace; 11 Great Grandchildren; his cousin Barbara Jones; and his lifelong friend Alan Peterson.
