Scott Cyr Obituary

Scott A. "Scotty" Cyr, 62

1960 - 2023

Lynn - Scott A. Cyr, "Scotty", 62, passed away at his home on Tuesday night, lovingly attended by his wife Louise, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Scott was well known and loved throughout the City of Lynn. He was a 1979 graduate of the Graphic Design program at Lynn Tech, applying those skills at Packard Paper Company of Peabody, during which time he also worked as Lighting Director for the band Night Runner (formerly Apache). He went on to work as a Water Craftsman at The Lynn Water and Sewer for nearly 20 years. His talent in this area drove him to branch out on his own, owning and operating McGrath Construction, caring more about his customers and a job well done than making a buck. Scott loved a good N'oreaster and spent decades plowing for various businesses and friends.

Scott was a self-taught musician, never learning to read music but playing guitar by ear like his favorite Classic Rock stars. One of his favorite past times was jamming out with his godson Christian, whom he adored. When not behind a guitar or the controls of a backhoe, Scott could often be found helping his family and friends with just about anything. Everyone's go-to-guy, Scott could fix anything! He was always "on the way" whenever anyone called for help, whether for a home or auto repair, a plow, a mow, a ride, or a listening ear.

In his downtime, Scott enjoyed golf, snowmobiling up North, sketching, flying his drone, stargazing through his telescope, playing washerboards, sharing stories with his buddies at the Hibernian Hall, and kicking his feet up with Judge Judy. A life-long learner, Scott enjoyed watching programs about Space, History, Science and Nature, and Politics. He often whipped up delicious pop overs and brought his famous steak and cheese calzones to family gatherings.

Scott will be profoundly missed by his devoted wife of 40 years Louise (Marquis) Cyr and his mother Judith (Dow) Cyr. He was the proud father of his daughters Sharyn Anderson and her husband Doug, and Meredith Orfanos and her husband Michael. Scott was blessed with six grandchildren; Ryan, Hannah, Leah, Cora, Michael, and Macie. He also leaves his brother Darren Cyr and wife Dale, his sister Susan Maher and husband Bill, his dear niece Samantha, and his cherished nephews Christian, Kylian, and Cody. He will be missed by many friends, especially his most devoted childhood friend Larry Corea. Scott is reunited with his dearly beloved father David P. Cyr.

Visitation hours will be Monday from 2pm to 5 pm at Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin Street Lynn. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10am, followed by burial at Puritan Lawn Cemetery.

"And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon

Little boy blue and the man in the moon

When you coming home, dad? I don't know when

But we'll get together then

You know we'll have a good time then"

I lived on Herschel Street and knew Scotty from 4th to 10th grade. He was a great friend, we shared a passion for music and loved just hanging out. Even though we lost touch, he made a lasting impression on me. My heartfelt condolences to Darren, Susy, and Mrs. Cyr and all those who loved him.
