Shirley Donovan Obituary
1942 - 2024
Lynn - Shirley J. Donovan, age 82, of Lynn, died on Monday, August 12, 2024 at her home after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Lynn, the daughter of the late Daniel and Clara (Savory) Donovan. She was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1959. She had also lived in Peabody before returning to Lynn many years ago.
Shirley had worked at General Electric in Wilmington, and later at Christmas Tree Shops. She was a member of the VFW Post 507 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo and pokeno, and loved the time spent camping on Kingston Lake, NH. She was an animal lover, and especially cherished her dogs, Cricket, and the late Diamond, Angel and Tootsie.
She is survived by her two daughters; Deborah Gilbert of NH and Doreen Giles McCaul of Lynn; two grandchildren; Shana Taylor and Brandon Harney; three great-grandchildren; Bryson Harney, Gwen Taylor and Kaia Taylor; as well as several cousins. She was the mother of the late Daniel Giles.
Service Information: Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 10AM in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 4-8PM. Those who prefer may make donations to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com
