Thomas Bringola Obituary

Thomas J Bringola, 88

1933 - 2022

N.Woodstock NH - Thomas J. Bringola of North Woodstock, NH passed away on March 12, 2022 at the age of 88. He was surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in Boston on May 27, 1933. He was the son of Margaret Adelaide Ryan and Francis Thomas Bringola and is survived by his sister Theresa (Bringola) Watson.

He grew up in Bridgewater, MA, then helped raise his family during his years as a resident of Reading and Wakefield. An avid lifelong skier and golfer, Tom naturally retired to his home in North Woodstock, NH. He remained as active as ever through his 80's and shared it all with his family and his large circle of friends. Time spent with Tom in NH are memories that will be cherished by many.

Tom attended Bridgewater High where he was recognized as a gifted athlete and formed many lifelong friendships. He then served in the Air Force as a mechanic before returning home to attend what was then known as The Bentley School of Accounting and Finance. Following his studies at Bentley, he earned a Bachelor Degree from Northeastern University. He spent the majority of his career working for WCVB-TV in Needham, retiring in 1999 as Vice President and Business Manager.

Once retired in NH, Tom got involved in supporting local arts and charity organizations. He helped to organize the "Briefcase Race" at Loon Mountain with all net proceeds going to the Faulkner Breast Centre. He donated his time for many years helping people to file their taxes and served on several organizations' board of directors.

From childhood through his entire life Tom formed many meaningful friendships. He had a generous soul and always had a kind word for everyone he met. He was consistently invested in his community and was a supporter of the arts and helped those without a lot of means. Tom was one of the folks through the years that would find the energy to keep everyone connected. This gift of his, which came so naturally to him, would continue throughout his life.

He is survived by his children and their spouses; Diane and Joseph Catoggio of Gorham, ME, Susan Bringola and Paul Angelli of Framingham, MA, Thomas, Jr. and Tracy Bringola of Newbury, MA and Karen Bringola and David Killam of San Francisco, CA. He adored all of his grandchildren; Kenzie, Kylie, Jason, Talia, Nicholas, Kevin, Alexander and Morgan. He will be sorely missed.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Boys Town of New England (www.boystown.org) as this was an organization near and dear to his heart.

Your Dad was absolutely the best. Back in the day (1971) he took a chance, left WHDH owned by the Herald-Traveler Corp and joined WCVB Boston Broadcasters, Inc. eight months before the FCC transferred the CH 5 license. A gutsy move on his part with a growing family. It turned out to be a great move for him and he helped make WCVB the #NO 1 station in the market.
My kids loved "Mr. B" because every Friday after Thanksgiving for many years we would attend a Bruins matinee in the CH 5 box at the old Boston Garden (that also included the CH 5 CREDIT CARD) what a guy. After those games my children never wanted to sit in regular seats. As a photographer he was always available to come up with money for special equipment to help us with our job. It was my honor to know your father, may he rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy to all of you. Your father was a kind person. I started in 1999 at WCVB and he welcomed me with open arms
