Thomas Tagliamonte Obituary

Thomas J. Tagliamonte

Lynn, MA - Tagliamonte, Thomas J., late of Lynn, was a devoted family man, business executive and college instructor.

The second of three children and oldest son of Thomas and Columbia Tagliamonte, his earliest memories were of growing up on Clovelly Street in Lynn. He loved playing CYO basketball and went on to develop a lifelong passion for playing tennis.

He served in the Air Force Reserves, including nine months of active duty in France during the Berlin Wall Crisis. Prior to deployment, he and Patricia Roach were engaged. They married after his return and recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary together this past April.

Tom valued education and was the first in his family to receive a bachelor's degree, then later a masters in business administration both from Northeastern University. He would later become an adjunct faculty member teaching business and mutual fund courses at Northeastern University for over twenty-five years before also joining the adjunct faculty at the Boston College Carroll School of Management.

He began his career at New England Securities Corporation in Boston and would go on to become Senior Vice President and Managing Director. After a two-year stint as Chief Compliance Officer of Walnut Street Securities in St. Louis, Missouri, he returned to Boston and finished his career working for over a decade at John Hancock/Manulife. During this time Tom also served on several oversight committees including the SEC, FINRA & the NASD. Tom loved work and the professional relationships he forged.

Tom was happiest in the natural bustle of life: a husband and father to four boys, running Saturday morning errands after playing tennis and attending countless baseball, soccer and hockey games. He instilled the importance of dressing well and took great pride in sending all four of his sons to college.

Tom lived a full life, he loved his family deeply and will be missed.

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Roach) Tagliamonte, his sons John and his wife Ann Walt Stallings Tagliamonte of Arlington, Craig and his wife Jo Ann of Wilmette, IL, Glen and his partner Timothy Munzert of Dorchester and Matthew of Lynn. He was the grandfather of William Tagliamonte, Gabriella Tagliamonte, Nora Tagliamonte, Ryan Tagliamonte and Alan Tagliamonte. He was the brother of Robert and wife Mary Tagliamonte of Newburyport and the late Eunice Pasquale along with several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tags helped raise 4 great kids and left a positive mark on many people. He challenged us intellectually and was always willing to debate the stock market at a moment´s notice. I will always remember him having a big smile and laughing at lame jokes.
