William Morella Obituary

William J. Morella, Jr., 88
1936 - 2025
Lynn, MA - William J. "Bill" Morella, Jr., age 88, of Lynn and Center Lovell, Maine, died on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Brigham and Women's Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Kathleen J. (Curtin) Morella with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage and predeceased him in May of 2024. Born in Lynn, in 1936, he was the son of the late William J. and Rose (Tranfaglia) Morella. He was raised and educated in Lynn, attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated from St. Mary's Boys High School in 1953. He later went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Boston College, and studied at Boston University, Boston Teachers College and Salem State College for his Master's in Education. Bill was a beloved teacher and psychologist for the Lynn Public Schools and served as the Chief Psychologist for the school department. He was a lifelong member of the Lynn Teachers Union, AFT 1037, member of the Lynn Administrators and the New England Counselors Association. Bill and Kathy raised their family in North Saugus surrounded by family and friends, then returned to Bill's parents' house in West Lynn when they retired. Bill enjoyed visits from family and friends any time of day or night, as his door was always open. With Bill's fun-loving, hospitable and welcoming personality, Bill created lasting, lifetime friendships. The White Mountains and Kezar Lake in Lovell, Maine stole their hearts. Bill & Kathy spent their life together enjoying everything the White Mountains had to offer. For more than 30 years their family was members of the Otter Ski Club in North Conway where they developed their love of the Mount Washington Valley. The Club became a second family, where Bill was affectionately known as "Uncle Billy". After 25 years of camping at Kezar Lake Camping Area in Lovell, Bill and Kathy built their retirement home on Kezar Lake. Life in Lovell revolves around the Center Lovell Store. Bill started each day with a visit to the store where a fresh muffin was saved just for him. He would sit at his favorite table on the porch of the store, read the paper, and catch up with friends, neighbors and anyone passing by. Retirement also allowed Bill and Kathy to go to Naples, Florida for over 20 years.
Bill is survived by his daughter Suzanne T. Higham and her husband Stephen of Georgetown; son William T. Morella of Nahant; his nieces, Denise Winn, Tammie DeCroteau and Nicole Cook; his cousins, Linda Jean and Marie Blazak and his large extended family and many close friends. He was the brother of the late Joanne Pennell.

So sorry to hear of your dad´s passing. He was a very nice and kind person; as was your mom. They were so good to me during Covid by keeping in touch by phone and sharing books. We miss them.
