Arthur Woodman Obituary

Arthur "Woody" Woodman, 79, died at Kaiser Fontana Hospital on November 11, 2006 (Veteran's Day). He was born in Chicago, IL on August 10, 1927. Woody served in the Navy on Adak Island in the Aleutians during World War II and on the U.S.S. Wiseman during the Korean War. He graduated from Cal State L.A. with a B.S. in Physical Education. Woody was among the first employees hired at the Chino Y.T.S. when it opened. He was a teacher and a coach for 45 years. He served as a Bible study and Sunday School teacher at the Ontario First Baptist Church and at Hillside Community Church in Rancho Cucamonga. Woody traveled throughoput Europe, Scandinavia, the U.K., Israel, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, the Phillipines, South Africa, Namibia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Canada, as well as all 50 United States. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Tamson "Tammy" Woodman and five children, Ward (Cindy) Woodman, Tamela (Bill) Yelland, Branch Woodman, Leif (Sarah) Woodman and Thea (Bryan) Dodge plus a sister, Grace "Pat" Stanley of South Bend, Indiana. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris "Dot" Smith of Indiana. There are also 10 grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) McEwen, Candace Woodman, Joel Woodman, Thomas Yelland, Edward "Teddy" Yelland, Anne Yelland, Maggie Woodman, William Arthur Woodman, Breanne Dodge and Lindsey Dodge. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 15 at 1 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontar io. Draper Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
