I played football with Bill at Cal State Fullerton in 86/87. He was a big strong hard working man on the football field. Super nice guy, teammate and friend. I woke up today 2/22/23 thinking about him, so I googled his name and came across his obituary. I'm sad Bill left us so young, but I know he's in Heaven. Heaven is a beautiful place.
RIP my friend....Rest.

I unfortunately just found out about Bill's passing. He too, was my first love and I feel blessed to have so many great memories of our time together. He was a big part of my life and I loved him more than anything. Bill was a big man with an even bigger heart who always had a smile on his face. Sweet, strong, quiet, compassionate, smart, witty, loving, fun, quick to laugh and full of life. That's how I'll always remember him..
Bill, you will always be in my heart and I thank God that we were a part of each other's lives...Thank you for being you and for loving me. I will miss you and I love you, always and forever...
P.S. I'm hearing all the songs:)

I grew up with Bill in Kentucky and he and I were best friends as grade schoolers. I was the smallest kid in the class and Bill was the tallest. His nickname was "Windy" and mine was "Fish". I remember when he moved to CA before we entered Jr. High and then he returned to KY for a visit in HS and we went to the drive in. Bill was a great friend and always a nice guy to everyone. Reading his obituary allowed me to catch up with what Bill had accomplished. I can picture him as a 12 year kid in my head, with his great smile I was sorry to hear about his passing and wish to extend my condolences to the family. I will never forget Bill, he is a part of my childhood. Love ya "Windy" - Your friend "Fish"

Bill was a huge part of my life growing up, my very first love... Although his size could be intimidating, he was a gentle giant. Some of my fondest memories of him were watching him play football, his love and dedication to the sport were immeasurable. We had so many wonderful memories in Jr.High and High School. Bill will always hold a piece of my heart, and I am thankful that I will be able to hold onto that forever. May he rest in peace...

I remember Bill from Pioneer Junior High and Upland HS. He was an awesome football player - and knowing him was such a privilege. Bill was always kind, always had a smile and a hug when days were crazy (as they often were when we were teenagers). I enjoyed spending some time with him at the reunion - It was always so easy to talk to Bill and to know he really cared. Bill - it was an honor knowing you and having you as a friend.

I was so sorry to hear that Bill passed away. I knew he was a strong person when he came Pioneer Jr. High. I was glad he was on our football team!! I got to know Bill well in high school thru all the sports we did and I considered him a good friend. I'm glad Bill came to Upland and was part of my life...I'll never forget him. May he rest in peace now.

Dear Windhorn Family,
I am so sorry for this unbelievably difficult loss. I went to school with Bill at Pioneer JH and Upland HS and feel honored to say we were friends back then. His size was, at first, daunting to all us teenagers. But soon after meeting Bill it was clear he was a gentle giant--always ready with a warm hug and kind smile. Indeed, the messages in this electronic guest book are a testament to his goodness. I hope one day I can laugh with him again in heaven. God bless you and God bless Bill.

Our prayers go to the Windhorn family. My memories of Bill are precious. Having been his coach at Upland High School, I immediately grew to love this young man. He was just like a son to me and he had such a good heart, but on the field he was pure terror. We became closer when Bill became good friends with my late son (Mike Ulloa). I will always remember you Bill, our prayers are with you...

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill's family and friends. We have many fond memories of Bill and he was always one to keep us smiling. His dedication to UHS football by going to many of the games in the last few years was remarkable. I am glad I got to have a nice talk with him a few months ago. He will always be in our hearts.
Lots of love and prayers,

To Bill's Family,
I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I met Bill at Pioneer Jr. High, but unfortunately, I never really had the opportunity to get to know him well. He did come across, though, as a very warm and friendly person, and I'm certain that was a reflection of those who surrounded him as he grew up.
We will keep you in our family's thoughts and prayers.

The best memories I have of Bill are in the 8th grade at Pioneer Junior High School. Bill Windhorn and Mike Klein were as everyone know's, huge for their age at the time. Bill's personality was huge like him. He had a great smile and a kind loving heart. Our 8th grade year and the summer going into 9th were fun, full of laughter and crazy antics. I still have the picture of our close group at the 8th grade dance. Thank you Bill for all the wonderful memories. You will be missed my friend. Love, Stacie Reynolds

My memories of Bill will always bring happiness to me. I am honored to call him my friend. I was fortunate to play basketball and football with him, but also to spend much more time with him outside of school. Bill was a tremendously generous man, quick to a laugh and smile, someone who made everyone around him feel better. Although I have not seen him recently, I will never forget him or the great times we had. My deepest sympathies to your family and god bless you.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to the Windhorn family. I worked with Bill at Greenburgh PD and some of my favorite times were with Bill, his "Billism's" ("It's not how much you use the gas, but how little you use the brake" - for example), and his love of Dunkin Donuts coffee. He will forever be missed and always a part of my heart. Love You!

My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to Bill's family. Bill was such a gentle soul with a great sense of humor. I last saw him in April of 2006 when he, Chris Anaya, and myself went to watch Nascar at Rob Emerson's house. We laughed a lot that night. I am honored to have known Bill. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry for the family's loss of such a wonderful man as Bill was. My first memories of Bill were in junior high. I attended Upland Jr. High and our two basketball teams played each other. We both played center and I ate a lot of leather that day as Bill blocked shot after shot. We were not close friends in high school, but he was always friendly whenever we talked. I will miss him.

Dee & Bill’s Family,
I was deeply saddened when I heard of Bill’s passing. I have known Bill since Pioneer and have many fond memories of my very TALL friend who always called me “short stuff” or would ask me “Curtin when will you grow?” I will cherish the time Bill & I got together for a catch up dinner after he moved back in 1999. We had some great laughs. He had a laugh that just made you smile & laugh back. He will be missed. He was a great & dear friend. Dee & family my thoughts & prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Hello Ray and Doretta,
We are sorry to hear about Bill's passing but know that he is in a much better place now. Dad has been keeping us up to date on his condition throughout his trial and I know he must have been very courageous to undergo so much suffering and all the treatments. We wish you the peace that passes all understanding that only God can give at a time like this.
Sincerely,
Dave & Jody Windhorn

I'm so sorry to hear about Bill passing away. I started to reflect back when I first met Bill, which was at Pioneer Jr. High. I laugh at the sight of him and his friend, Mike Klein at halloween, when they both were HUGH at that age, compared to the rest of the boys and they dressed as babies - just wearing cloth diapers... Bill was always the gentle giant. The last time I saw Bill at the twenty year reunion, he was still the same~kind-hearted. May happy memories ease your sorrow.
