Dakota Satterfield Obituary

Dakota John Satterfield entered our hearts and lives on September 28, 1997, and returned safely home to the Lord on February 7, 2004. He was 6 years old. Dakota shined his light on every life he touched, and in everything he did. How blessed his family and friends were, and will forever be, for every year we had him with us! His brief time was so rich and full. We can but thank God for the incredible gift he was and for the inspiration of his courage, precious spirit and personality that radiated his special love and joy and humor! He always brought a smile. He has left behind his adoring parents, John and Margery Sa tterfield of Claremont, CA and beloved brother, George, his grandfather, John Ochsner of Azusa, CA, his great-grandmother, Delora Satterfield of Chino, and many devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded to his heavenly home by his grandparents, Virginia and George Satterfield, and grandmother, Delores Ochsner, and cousin, Jeffrey Ochsner. He was a very proud student of Sumner/Danbury Elementary in Claremont. A vigil and celebration of Dakota's life will be held at Our Lady of the Assumpt ion Catholic Church, Claremont, today, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church, Friday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. Interment will be made in Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions in the name of Dakota Satterfield to the Cardiothoracic Transplant Dept., Attn: Monica Horn, Mail Stop #66, 4650 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90027, and please specify Heart Transplant Dept. Dear John, Margie, and Georgie,

I hope you like this poem. We love you all so much and we will always be here for you all for whatever you need.

"Angel"

Dakota, you came to us one happy day in September

And it is a day that we will always remember,

You made our whole family happy

But especially your Mommy and Daddy,

You always gave everyone great big smiles

Even though you were going through such tough trials,

Ever since your birth

We knew you were a heaven sent angel on earth,

You gave everyone all your love

And it just felt like a special gift from above,

Now that you're not with us anymore

All our hearts are very sore,

But we know that God is taking good care of you

And that we will see you one day too,

While you're smiling down on us from heaven above

Just know that you are our greatest inspiration and we send you all our love.

We love you Dakota!!!

We love you guys and you are all in our thoughts and prayers,

margyand johnny i hope things are going well considering the loss of dakotas presence and joy. i just wanted to share my thoughts and say i think the funeral was orchestrated with great elegance and faith. For only being with us for a short period of time there was much to see and remember.the readings from everyone, the film, and photographs were all done with much care and perfection and the innocence of the doves flying off into the sky was a very warm and beautiful experience ,im happy i was there to share the moment. you did good johnny.

Dearest John,Margie, and Georgie,

Your beloved Son and Our nephew and cousin will be forever be in our hearts! The beautiful services and eulogy Adair wrote with your help I will remember always! I have a poem for you.

" Our Broken Chain"

We little knew that day that God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly,

In death we do the same.

It broke our heart to lose you,

you did not go alone.

Part of us went with you,

the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,

your love is still our guide.

And though we cannot see you,

you are always at our side,

Our family chain is broken

and nothing seems the same.

As God calls us one by one,

Our chain will link again.

Love Always,

Delora,Mitch,Lauren and John

Dear, John and Margie

I love you both so very much. I have continually prayed for your loss of Dakota. I know the pain that you too are going through. Losing Jeffrey has been very difficult. Just know that Jeff was there to lead his little cousin by his hand to our precious Lord. Dakota was a very brave little boy. Our Lord promises eternal life. They know no more pain nor any sorrow. Jeff and Dakota are probably playing X-box and wrestling together. Remember to call me anytime day or night. I can help you. We love you all, John, Margie and little Georgie.

To the Family of Dakota,

You are all in my thoughts and prayers these days. Dakota I'm sure is looking down from the other side of the rainbow letting you know how beautiful it is up there, thanking you for the wonderful days he had on earth and telling George to throw the ball to him.

All our love,

Aunt Helen and Cousin Mary

I hope time will help heal the lose of Dakota, but always remember the good times. He was lucky to have two loving parents, a brother, family and friends. It's not how long you live, but the quality of your life. He is without pain and in God's care. Our thought and prayers are with you. Donna Ochsner and family
