John Labrucherie

John Labrucherie passed on May 4, 2023 with family by his side. He was born on April 3, 1959 to the late Raymond and Mary Jane (Lafaurie) Labrucherie. He was raised on a farm in Ontario, California with his brother and two sisters. John graduated from Chino High School in 1977 where he served as ASB President, played quarterback, and was captain of the football team. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1981. He then attended Airborne and Ranger Training School in Fort Benning, Georgia. He served as a Captain in the Army on the DMZ in South Korea. He also served at Fort Irwin and the Presidio in Monterey. After his adventures in the military, he graduated from Loyola Law School and practiced law. In his later years he developed a passion for designing and producing products for the medical industry. He was a cowboy at heart and had a deep compassion for animals. He raised rescue horses and volunteered his services saving horses from the California wildfires. He took great satisfaction in designing and producing a specialized cushioned stall mat for injured horses, dressage, and racehorses. He was generous in nature and worked tirelessly to help Veterans navigate the cumbersome Veterans Administration system to obtain the medical benefits they needed and deserved. He joined a group of volunteer Vets who would attend funeral services of indigent Army veterans at Riverside National Cemetery. He was a member of the American Legion Post 328 in Norco where he also volunteered his services. He was the cool, fun-loving uncle whose escapades are forever emblazoned in the cherished memories of his nieces and nephews. Oh, the stories they can tell! He had a gift for making difficult concepts easy to understand and was always willing to help family and friends with any college courses they had difficulty understanding. He leaves behind his loving family: brother Ron (Marie), his sisters, Mary Louise, and Denise (Brett) Bittel, nephews and nieces, Ronnie (Kassi) and John Paul (Janine) LaBrucherie, Brienne (Josh) Veilleux, Brandon and Brennan Bittel, and grandnephews and grandnieces, Matthew, Jackie, Audrey, and Marc Paul LaBrucherie. John's extended family includes his H-1 Company band of brothers from the Long Gray Line: Ed Naessens, Kyle Walker, Mark Armstrong, Rich Brudzynski, and Michael Scott; his buddy since high school, Greg Setlich, his trusted friend and confidant, Michele Rosenveldt, and his dear friend Trish Wiemann who brought joy to his life. On Friday, May 26, 2023, services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 2713 S. Grove St. in Ontario, beginning with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m., funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. burial at Bellevue Cemetery at 1240 West G Street in Ontario. In lieu of flowers, suggested memorial contributions are: the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Heart Association, or the Chino Basque Club Scholarship Fund.
