Laura Holliday Obituary

Laura Ann Holliday
Longtime Claremont resident Laura Ann Holliday passed away January 10, 2012. She was 44. Laura is survived by mother Penny Holliday, brother John Holliday and his family, sister Aimee Wheater, aunt, uncle & cousin Peg, Mel, & Tim Bubier in California. Grandmother Penny Perkins, aunt and cousins Terry Taylor, Sloan & Michelle Cushman in Colorado. Pre- deceased by her father, Fred Holliday.
Laura lived most of her life in Claremont where she attended Chaparral Elementary School, then El Roble Intermediate, and when her family moved to Upland she attended and graduated from Upland High School. After attending Mt. San Antonio College she started working for the family business where she drove trucks and worked on heavy construction equipment. Her dad challenged her to attend truck-driving school where she graduated top of her class. Laura enjoyed anything mechanical, and excelled working on bikes, cars, and trucks. While taking an auto mechanics course at Citrus College she was selected by professor to attend an advanced auto mechanics class offered by Toyota. After completion she worked in the service department of local Toyota dealership. Although she enjoyed this adventure she eventually returned to driving trucks for the family business.
Like her father Laura preferred being outdoors. She spent her childhood outside on a bike and most recently enjoyed the fresh air on the back of her Vespa. She enjoyed camping, boating, and many other outdoor activities. Laura was also a true animal lover and always had cats and dogs. Laura was a member of the Claremont Methodist Church, and as an adult toured Israel with an adult bible study group.
Laura will be remembered at a private funeral service with her family. For those wanting to pay their respects Laura will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Covina. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312 diabetes.org.

Dear Hollidays, I am sorry to learn of Laurie's passing. Seeing her picture brought back great memories of our little Blue Bird Troop that refused to wear our uniforms to school and many grand adventures through the old neighborhood on our bikes or roller skates. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

To Penny and family:

I speak for my Mom and I when I say how sorry we were to hear about Laurie's passing. Dad use to speak of John and Laurie often, telling us funny stories of what had happened that day at Holiday Rock. The Holiday family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

To the Holliday Family:

In this difficult time in your lives, may you be comforted by God's word, the Bible. James 4:8 encourages; "Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you".

My condolences,
SJB.

Penny, sorry to hear about the passing of Laura. She sounds like a girl with a lot of spunk and she definitely has a twinkle in her eye. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Cathy Norell
