Maria Rosa Yglesias

January 7, 1941 - May 14, 2023 Maria Rosa Yglesias, age 82, of Highland, CA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Meadow Ridge Care Facility in Colton. She was born on Jan 7, 1941 in Corona, New Mexico. She was the daughter of the late Santiago and Josefina Mares. Rosa graduated from Las Cruces Union High School in 1959. She married in September 1962 and separated in July 1967. During this time she moved several times eventually settling in Redlands, CA where she raised her three children. She was employed by Redlands Unified School District as an Instructional Assistant for 24 years. Near the end of her RUSD career she was employed by the YMCA Child Care Center and Head Start program in Redlands. Rosa was a devout Catholic and member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Redlands. In her later years, her declining health prevented her from attending church regularly but she always made sure communion was brought to her whenever possible. Her strong faith in God and love of her family and friends always pulled her through. Rosa is survived by her three children, Nick (Kathy) Yglesias of Hesperia, Lorenzo "Munch" Yglesias of Crestline, and Concha (Johnny) Ramirez of Crestline; six grandsons and three great-grandchildren; sister Julia Cronk of Yucaipa and brother Cresciano Mares of San Bernardino. There will be a memorial service on Thursday, June 1st at 10am at Mark B. Shaw Chapel, 1525 N. Waterman Ave., San Bernardino, CA.
