Mary Helen Sharp

1945 - 2021

Mary Helen Sharp was born Maria Elena Bernal on August 10, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA and passed away March 30, 2021 at San Antonio Regional Hospital in Upland, CA due to covid complications. Mary was a long-time resident of Fontana where she graduated from Fontana High School. She attended Chaffey Community College and graduated from Loma Linda LVN School. She worked as a nurse in the inland empire for several years before deciding to become a homemaker and raise her 2 sons. She later returned to caregiving as a home health care provider. Mary was a treasured friend and confidant who was known for having kind words for everyone and not taking sides. She was considered a surrogate mother to many, often referred to as "Aunt Mary". She especially enjoyed shopping for extended family and keeping a detailed list of friends and family's birthdays and addresses so that she could always stay in touch. She is survived by her husband Walton, her two sons David and William, and her sisters Susan Hunt and Carmen Bernal. A viewing will be held Tuesday, May 4th at Green Acres Mortuary in Bloomington, CA from 4 to 8pm. A service at 10am will be at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral on Wednesday, May the 5th in San Bernardino. Graveside services will follow at Green Acres Cemetery in Bloomington.
