Mom and I would always talk over the phone on New Year's Day as we watched the Rose Parade together, her in Battle Ground and I in Pasadena. She always loved the Rose Parade and she always wanted to know what was happening and how was the weather. We would talk for hours on the phone talking about everything and anything. I would tell her what I was cooking and she always said that sounded good. She taught me everything I needed to know about taking care of myself, she was a good mother and I miss her eveyday.
She will always be in my heart.

I had the pleasure of doing Mrs.Martins Hair every Wednesday from about 1985 until 2001 when I moved to Alaska.I will never forget her and I will never be able to call her by her first name.It.s just the respect I have for her.She was a client of mine through a divorce , a marriage and all four of my children being born. She was an amazing lady .I remember taking my kids out to her house and letting them pick berries and gettting fresh veggies. She was very knowledgable about all plants and loved her garden.I have kept in contact with Mrs. MArtin since I left Washington and always enjoyed her Christmas cards.I will miss our friendship...
my thoughts are with the family at this time.

My dad - Bill Silva - knew Ruby (and Earl too) from the Cascade Mariners and always spoke well of the work she did for the group. I am so sorry to see one more of that small group leave and hope there is someone to ring the bell that final time to mark Ruby's passing.
For Ruby's family, I am so sorry for your loss.

I had the privilege of meeting Earl and Ruby through my sister, who was Ruby's beautician for years. I so enjoyed visiting with her when I would go to clean. She was so wise and insightful, and I loved to hear her laugh. She had the best candy out in the most beautiful crystal candy dishes, chocolate covered peanut clusters! Loved them! She taught me to liven up food by not being afraid to try different spices! I will miss her greatly.
Sincerely,

Mary Hylton and family

Ruby was always cutting articles and snippets from the paper. I like to think this one (yellowed from age) touched her heart.

Laugh when you can, apologize when you should, and let go of what you can't change. Kiss slowly, forgive quickly, play hard, take chances, give everything, and have no regrets. Life is too short to be anything but happy!
