Sally M. Cortez

Sally Marie Cortez, 46, of Pomona lost her seven-year battle with cancer Monday May 7, 2007, at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. She was born July 15, 1960 in Pomona and was a resident of Pomona her entire life. Sally is remembered by devoting her life to her children, the many sacrifices each one of them knew personally. Sally's loyalty, love, strength and selfless commitment to her sisters will always be cherished. Sally was a very spiritual woman who had the hands of God in everything and everyone she touched; from jewelry, crocheting, knitting, yard sales, tea pot collections and the love of her endless plants. All with her cousins "Dorcy and Tom" by her side. Sally was always a woman who could do it all. Surviving are her children: sons, Edward Cortez III (Priscilla) and Arthur C. Cortez (Lenette), daughters, Edie M. Cortez, Irene C. Cortez and Rachel Amendoz, and son Armando J. Rodriguez, all of Pomona; she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Cortez II. She is also survived by her parents, Frank and Helen Torres; sisters, Cathy (Tony) Requena, Frances Torres, and Armanda (Jim) Perez; her grandchildren, Marissa Cortez, Larissa Cortez, Andrew Cortez, Rey Jr. Cota, Starlie Cota, Catherine Cortez, Arthur Jr. Cortez, Nathen Cota , Johnathen Cortez, and Edward Cortez IV; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A private celebration of life reception will be held on Saturday, May 12 at her parent's home in Pomona. Todd Memorial Chapel, Pomona, is in charge of arrangements.
