Adalberto Lira, 88, of Seeley, CA passed away peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren on September 15, 2025. Adalberto was born in La Sandia, Guanajuato on April 16, 1937. He worked for Teledyne Aerospace in Costa Mesa, CA for 11 years, where he worked as a machinist and created components for Apollo 13 and other NASA missions. He also serviced equipment at Lucky Construction in El Centro, CA. Subsequently, Adalberto proudly worked in construction and maintenance for Imperial Irrigation District, retiring in January 1996 after 19 loyal years with the company.
In retirement, Adalberto poured his energy into creating a beautiful ranch in Tecate, Mexico with his beloved wife, Olivia. Together, they enjoyed many wonderful years surrounded by horses, livestock, and the laughter of their grandchildren, who considered it one of their favorite places to visit. He also cherished his time at his home in Yuma, AZ, where he lovingly cultivated his fruit trees and rose bushes. Adalberto was an avid baseball fan and life-long supporter of the LA Dodgers. He loved traveling and had a deep appreciation and love for the beautiful outdoors. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, reading, and music especially mariachi.
Adalberto will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Olivia Lira. He is survived by his children, Alma (Miguel Flores) of El Centro, Rocio (Guillermo Ramirez) of Holtville, Alberto (Elizabeth Lira) of La Quinta, and Gustavo (Melanie Lira) of Imperial. His legacy lives on in his 12 grandchildren, Mark, Jasmine, Alberto, Belen, Olivia, Marianna, Noah, Miguel, Felicity, Kathryn, Anthony, and Marley, and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom adored their Buelo.
Adalberto was cherished by his family and deeply respected by all who knew him. His legacy of love, hard work, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. He will truly be missed.
Services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 560 Maple Ave., Holtville, CA 92250. A rosary will begin at 10 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m.
