ADELA ALVARADO Obituary

Adela Huerta Alvarado was ushered by angels to her heavenly home in the early hours of September 23, 2018 after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in her Lord and Savior supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Adela was born to the late Manuel J. and Manuela Noriega Huerta, a World War II veteran, farm laborer and a homemaker respectively on May 2, 1940 in Calexico, CA. Adela attended local schools. She was a homemaker, but worked seasonally at local Asparagus packing sheds from a young age until her retirement. She also served as a treasurer at New Life Assembly of God Church in Calexico for many years. She helped raised various siblings, who lovingly considered her a second mother. Adela was blessed with a large and loving family. She married the love of her life Raul Batres Alvarado in 1957 in Calexico, CA. She raised her five children with patience, discipline, and humility. But above all, she introduced them to her Lord and Savior. Adelas home was a haven to many. Her doors were always open to anyone, especially on Sunday afternoons. She always thought of others before she thought of herself. Her dishes and her sewing skills were legendary, as were her counseling skills. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at home with her creator. Adela is survived by her husband Raul; her children, Patricia (Derrick) Gunn, Raul Jr Chito (Belinda), Nellie Nena (Arturo) Marin, Arturo Lingis (Melissa #2), and Christopher Chris (Melissa #1); 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; siblings Norma, Manuel Jr., Arturo, Teresa, Rudy, Armida, Frank, and Carmen. A celebration of life will be held at Christ Community Church, 590 W. Orange Ave, El Centro, CA, Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10 a.m. Pastor Walter Colace will officiate the service with a reception to follow immediately in the church fellowship hall.
