Alma Reyes Obituary

Alma Reyes, 82, of Brawley passed away Wednesday, June 24.
Alma was born in 1933 in Los Angeles, CA to Guadalupe and Mike Aguilar. In 1950 she married Isaac Reyes and together they raised 6 children of whom she was very proud of. Alma was an amazing mother, excellent cook, a talented seamstress and a great friend to many. She held various jobs throughout her work career, instilling in her children the importance of education and a strong work ethic. Over the years, Alma always emphasized family unity. She demonstrated this endlessly by being her children's and grandchildren's biggest fan. A few of Alma's favorite things to do were shopping for great deals, talking to friends on the phone, watching novelas, putting puzzles together, listening to Spanish music and reading the IV Press newspaper daily.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Reyes; and brother, Carlos Aguilar.
Alma is survived by her children, Maria Elena Leyvas (Conrado), Delia Rodriguez (Jimmie), Richard Reyes (Molly), Kathy Grijalva (Gilbert), Terry Theuret, and Adrienne Rodriguez (Mark); 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley with rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley. Alma will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery following Mass.
