ANTONIO "TONY" HINOJOSA

June 13, 1924 - Aug. 18, 2011



Antonio Hinojosa, 87, of Brawley passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011.
Antonio was the fourth child of seven children born to Juan and Gumercinda Hinojosa who lived at the Harvey A. Hastain Ranch east of Brawley. Tony and all of his brothers and sisters attended and graduated from Magnolia Elementary School. Tony was born with the disability of Cerebral Palsy and was unable to continue school beyond elementary school beyond elementary school and was there after home-schooled in Spanish by his parents and in English by his siblings. All were eager to assist him in this endeavor in his education. Ranch living also involved everyone at home with the daily chores of feeding and caring for two dairy cows and chickens, plus growing flowers and vegetables. Tony will be lovingly remembered by his sisters for being very caring and an inspiration in many respects for his desire to study and learn and always aspiring to do everything for and by himself. He was very industrious, enthusiastic and hard working.
He was preceded in death by both parents and the first born sister, Paulita at age 15, and by his two older brothers, Salvador Hinojosa Sr. of La Paz Baja California Sur and Ysmael "Milo" Hinojosa of Brawley.
Antonio is survived by his sisters, Vera Hinojosa of Los Angeles, Velia Hinojosa of Brawley and Ofrecina Maneiro of San Diego and at whose home he lived for the past 30 years; Also surviving are numerous loving nieces and nephews and their children who live in different states in Mexico and Baja California Sur.
Rosary and Service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at St. Margaret Mary Church at 8 a.m. Burial will immedately follow at Riverview Cemetery.
