Arthur Eugenio Obituary

ARTHUR CHICO
EUGENIO

Sept. 18, 1950 - Mar. 31, 2014

Arthur (Art) Chico Eugenio Sr. was a loving son, father, brother and friend. He was born in Brawley, CA on September 18, 1950, and passed away on March 31, 2014 due to various health issues including cancer. Art's legacy will continue in his children Crystal Eugenio, his grandchildren Kiah and Daniel, his son Arthur Chico Eugenio Jr., and daughter in law Karin Eugenio. His siblings, Johnny, Joann, Robert, Tina, Danny and Carol, their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews, also survive Art.
After graduating from Central Union High School in 1969, Art married Dianna Sue Waters, mother of his two children in 1973, and they were married for 16 years. Later that month, he joined the US Navy, where he served until 1977.
After serving his country, Art attended Imperial Valley College (IVC), and studied economics. After IVC, he had various careers such as driving a hazmat tanker truck in the petroleum industry, working in the agricultural industry, and eventually retiring from the California PIA (Prison Industry Authority) as a superintendent in 2012.
In addition to the afore-mentioned careers, Art was an avid off-road enthusiast and a talented mechanic. He could build a racecar from the ground up and was also a skilled welder and fabricator. One of his last and greatest achievements was building a racecar for Art Jr. with his best friend Sonny Loo.
For leisure, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, cooking and telling inappropriate jokes. In the 1970's and 80's, Art and his brother Robert raced an off-road Class 5 Baja bug competitively, and were notorious for being fast. This duo won many races such as the Mint 400, Mexicali 250 and Parker 400. Most recently, in the off-road circuit, Art Sr. accompanied his son at races like the Baja500 and Baja1000. Photography, under his son's guidance, became one of his favorite pastimes.
Art will be missed tremendously by all of his family and friends, but they find solace knowing he'll reunite with his father John, mother Fern, and sisters Gloria and Rebecca. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 11:00am at Faith Assembly- 320 South J St. in Imperial.

Please accept my condolences from the depth of my soul. I spent many wonderful days in the Eugenio family home in El Centro with Chico, Robert and Danny as great friends. Although I haven't seen them in years, I still cherish fond memories of great times with them. May God sincerely comfort the family at this most difficult time.

Too all the Eugenio Family: My sincerest condolences to you and prayers for all. Chico will be in our memories forever, from the spunky (understated) youngster on the school bus to the volunteer cook. He will be missed at our Niland reunion.
