ASCENCION GONZALES Obituary

Ascencion Gonzales, 68, of Calexico passed away on August 14, 2024. At a very young age, his family moved to the San Joaquin Valley, then settled in Soledad, CA. At a young age, he loved to work by his father's side in the agricultural fields all over the Salinas Valley. As an adult, he worked for Massolo Brothers Inc., truck driving up and down California. In 1982, he married Isabel Ramirez and raised their children in Calexico. After a truck driving accident, he decided to start his own landscaping business in Imperial Valley, where he worked for over 34 years. He loved listening to music mainly Tejano music loved to dance with his favorite dance partner his wife, and later in life taught his daughter to dance Tejano. Grilling or a good menudo was his cooking specialty. Chon will be missed and never forgotten by many. He was loving and easy going always wanting to help out others. Making people laugh, charismatic, and compassionate.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel Ramirez Gonzales of Calexico; daughter, Andrea Ramirez Gonzales of Calexico; son, Carlos Gonzales of Salinas, CA; 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
He was preceded in death by his son, Francisco J. Gonzales; father, Pascual Gonzales; and mother, Sabina Gonzales.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 6 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico. Mass will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Burial to follow at Mountview Cemetery in Calexico.
