CARMEN VALENZUELA Obituary
Aug. 30, 1927 – Sept. 30, 2025
Carmen Guizar Valenzuela, 98, a kind, generous and loving mother, passed away peacefully at her home on September 30, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born August 30, 1927, to Mariano and Carmen Guizar, a pioneering family of the Imperial Valley, CA, she lived a life defined by faith, compassion and adventure.
She married her sweetheart, Marcus Valenzuela in 1949, and together they shared 57 years of marriage. A devoted wife and mother, Carmen raised four children. Diana, Steven, Michael and Patrick, instilling in them the values of love, hard work and faith.
Carmen dedicated her career to helping others, working as an escrow officer, bookkeeper, and elementary school teacher. She accomplished her goal of a Bachelor's degree and teaching credential from SDSU at the age of 60. Beyond her professional life, Carmen was a longtime volunteer at El Centro Regional Hospital and a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, where she shared her faith teaching catechism.
Carmen was a fearless adventurer and loved travel. At the age of 80, she piloted a plane and went skydiving.
She is survived by her 4 children, nine grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Carmen's life was a testament to faith, perseverance and joy - a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A funeral mass was held on October 29, 2025, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
