CAROL GILBERT Obituary

CAROL GILBERT

Aug. 29, 1934 Feb. 1, 2022

On the morning of February 1, 2022 at El Centro Regional Hospital, Carol Gilbert passed away peacefully. She was 87 years old.

Carol was born in New Jersey on August 29, 1934. She was the youngest daughter of George and Isabella Kjellberg and Doris' little sister. She had fond memories growing up in a loving household with encouraging parents and a dad who doted on his wife and his children.

Carol would later have 4 children of her own and settle into the life of a farmer's wife in Imperial Valley, CA. Once her children were grown, Carol enjoyed traveling around the country in a fifth wheel trailer with her husband Leslie Gilbert by her side. They were active members in various RV Resort Campgrounds, site seeing, socializing, crafting, and even managing. After her husband's passing in 1995, Carol continued managing an RV Resort Park until she retired a few years later. Retirement brought more adventures road trips, cruises and visits to friends and family in various states and countries around the world.

During her later years, Carol enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family. Reading was also a favorite hobby and she spent hours glued to her books. She was guided by her faith and her favorite book was the Bible. She read scriptures daily no matter where she was.

Carol had a big heart and helping others in need was a big part of her life. Her help extended to her family, her friends and to several charities.

Carol was a kind, caring and generous daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend. Her family meant the world to her and she stood by them unconditionally.

She loved knitting and crocheting and making gifts for everyone she knew. Her family and friends will miss her presence here on earth; however, we are comforted knowing that she is at peace in the arms of her Heavenly Father.

We imagine her in Heaven reunited with her loved ones: hugging her parents, George and Isabella Kjellberg; and her sister, Doris Wise; Once again, embracing her husband, Les Gilbert and laughing with her daughter, Brenda Leifheit and granddaughter, Corina Leifheit.

Carol is survived by her son, David Myers; daughters, Mickey Emery (Ronnie) and Tammy King (David); grandson, Jeremiah Leifheit; granddaughters, Dawn Slawson (Paul), Crystal Bravo, Dallas Tandberg (Forrest), and Chandler King; 11 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all the doctors who treated Carol in her later years; and the doctors and nurses who took care of her while she was in the hospital in her final days. We would also like to thank, Alicia Pantoja who was her caregiver and friend for many years.
