CASIMIR "CASEY" MOSTRONG
Apr. 26, 1921- Sept. 7, 2007
Memorial Services will be held Friday, September 14th at 11 a.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary, 1975 South 4th St, in El Centro for Casey Mostrong, 86, longtime El Centro resident, who died peacefully at home with his family.
Casey was born in Farrell, Pennsylvania in 1921 to John and Victoria Mostrog. He graduated from Farrell High School in 1939. He began working for Westinghouse Electrical Corporation in the welding and design department while attending college. Casey served in World War II in the United States Navy from 1942-1944. He was transferred to El Centro NAF, making a home for himself in the Imperial Valley.
Casey married his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Colleen "Cole" Prowell October 3, 1947 in Yuma, Arizona. They raised a family and later began building a family business. After being discharged from the Navy, he worked for Palowski Welding for several years. He started his own business, K-C Welding and Rentals which is now 49 years old. The original business began on South 4th Street and as business expanded, moved to South Dogwood Road, where it remains today. Casey was known for his patented line of sled planters he manufactured in the 1950's that are still in production and used throughout the farming industry worldwide.
In business, Casey was known as a very meticulous, direct and precise man. As a beloved father, he was a never-ending teacher of life and as a grandfather, "Sugarpops" and a teller of endless stories. He truly enjoyed all of his years spent on the beach in San Felipe with his family and friends.
His brothers, Joe and Ben Mostrog, sister Violet Evans, son Larry Mostrong and his wife Colleen Mostrong preceded Casey in death.
Brother, Gene Mostrog and sisters Helen Mostrog and Stella Martin of Pennsylvania, son and daughter-in-law Mike and Julie Mostrong of El Centro, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Rich Sylvester of Carlsbad, and grandchildren Shannon and Todd Mostrong, Anthony and Natalie Sylvester, and Blake Brett, and Lindsey Mostrong, surviving him.
Our family would like to give a sincere thank you to Lupe Colunga, Casey's caregiver whose compassion and patience will always be remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations be sent to the American Cancer Society. (www.cancer.org)
