CATALINA BARAJAS

Mar. 9, 1941 - Feb. 13, 2015



Catalina Barajas, 73 of Calexico passed away of cancer on Friday, February 13, 2015 surrounded by her family.
Catalina was born on March 9, 1941 in Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco, MX. She was a farm worker and later as a seamstress. She will be missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered by her generostity, sense of humor and making everyone laugh with her numerous jokes. Even though she only had a second grade education she loved to read and encouraged her kids to get an education. She attended Imperial Valley College and Merced Community College to learn English.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Eduvijes Cota; sons, Antonio Alvarado and David Navarro.
She is survived by her daughters, Beatriz Alvarado of Calexico, Elena Maciel of El Centro, Maricela Talamantes of San Diego; and son, Carlos Navarro of San Jose; grandchildren, Michael, Luis, Angel Hernandez, Andy, Jennifer Maciel, Ivan, Noe Talamantes, Everly Juliette Navarro and Vanessa Alvarado.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 6 to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico. Mass will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Calexico with Father Miguel Campos officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
