CLARA SALAZAR Obituary

Clara Lala Cathaline Salazar, 81, passed away on October 8, 2022, in El Centro, California. Clara was born to Joe and Sarah Salazar in their family home in Heber, California, on September 8, 1941.
She attended school in Heber and graduated from Central Union High School in 1960. After high school, she attended Imperial Valley College and later finished her BA in Art at San Diego State University. She traveled to Mexico City and various locations in the Southwest. She was a local artist and co-founder of the Lawn Creations and Lollipop Clowns; also employed at 31 Flavors Ice Cream, Grant's City, Kmart, International Fabricators, and as a substitute teacher. She liked painting, drawing, volunteering, helping with class reunion activities, and attending clown conventions. Clara enjoyed spending time with her twin sister, Sarah, with whom she shared an inseparable bond.
Clara was preceded in death by her father, Joe; mother, Sarah; siblings, Louis, Joe, Henry, Richard, David and Sarah. Clara is survived by many nephews and nieces.
Visitation and a rosary will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. and Mass begins at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in El Centro. After Mass, the burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Dear Family, Friends, collegues and students, Clara and Sarah are together again in Heaven. I first meet them through work, and later through their service to children. Art and clowning were their joy. When I worked at EDD, they loved to help make people's homes beautiful. Many have a handpainted scene in a children's room. Their volunteer work with special needs children was so appreciated, too.
