It is with great sorrow that we share the unexpected passing of Craige David Harvey who was born on November 27, 1973, and passed away on December 15, 2024, at the age of 51. A native of the Imperial Valley, Craige lived most of his adult life in San Diego. He is survived by his son, Austin Harvey; daughter, Kailey Harvey; granddaughter, Luciana Michelle (due in February); former wife Reyna Valenzuela, mother, Norma Vandergriff; stepfather, Rockey Vandergriff; father, Skip Harvey; sister, Michelle Rodiles (Chris Rodiles and family); and brother, Shawn Acosta (Jessica Acosta and family).
Many will remember him as Coach Craige. He never missed a sporting event that involved his children and nothing brought him more joy than coaching their teams. He spent endless hours on the wrestling mat with his son and the softball field with his daughter.
Captain Craige was an avid and skilled fisherman who found peace and solace on the water. He enjoyed fishing the Baja Coast, relaxing on his boat in the San Diego Bay, making amazing ceviche and frying the best fish tacos for family and friends.
He was well known for his charisma, charm, and humor and was always the life of the party. He loved to share the joy of a day on the water with anyone lucky enough to join him. Though he may no longer be with us physically, his spirit will forever remain with us. Celebration of life will be held at Christ Community Church in El Centro on January 3, 2025, at 10 a.m.
