DAVID GLORIA Obituary

It is with a heavy heart to announce, David C. Gloria passed away on September 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.
David was born on September 13, 1951, in Yuma, Arizona, to Victor and Carmen Gloria. In 1965, he relocated to the Imperial Valley, where he attended Central Union High School and graduated in 1969. David married his beloved wife Carmen L. Gloria in 1974 and together they raised four children, were blessed with nine grandchildren, and welcomed a great-grandson.
David's professional journey included a tenure at Pan American Underwriters in 1972, where he later retired in 2007. Following his retirement, he dedicated himself to serving as the Athletic Director for Meadows Union Elementary School District in 2007 until March of 2024.
David's true passion lay in coaching football. His illustrious coaching career began in 1972 with El Centro Pop Warner and in 1988 he joined Central Union High School Football and held his role as Freshmen Football Coach until present. David was inducted to the Imperial Valley Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018. He leaves behind a legacy as a dedicated coach and mentor in the football community, having touched the lives of many student athletes throughout his career.
David is survived by his mother, Carmen Gloria; his wife, Carmen L. Gloria; his sister, Mary Helen Gloria; his brother, Victor Gloria Jr. (Lily); his children, David J. Gloria Jr., Cynthia Ahumada (Mauricio), Catherine Gloria (Mark), Cassandra Gloria-Caro (Faustino); his grandchildren, Jacob, Greysen, Idalis, Catiana, Mauricio Jr., Nathan, Aaliyah, Caleb, and Dominic; and his great-grandson, Ace Drew; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A ceremony to honor and celebrate the life of David C. Gloria will take place on October 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. (Rosary) and 11 a.m. (Mass) at St. Mary's Church in El Centro, CA. Following the mass, burial proceedings will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro, CA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can also be made to the Spartan Athletic Club (SAC), attention: Central Union High School Freshman Football Team.

David was a co-worker of mine at Pan American in the 70's and 80's. He also coached my son in Pop Warner Football. David was quiet and kind. He had a smile that came easily. I recall how much his family meant to him. We used to laugh about David working on football diagrams at work. Football was his passion. Sending heartfelt condolences to Carmen and the Gloria family.

I'm saddened of the passing of my compadre, David Gloria.
My heart is full of wonderful memories of growing up with David. It was good times with David, Victor, Efrem and Joe. Lots of laughter, games and love.

David was a leader in our church dedicating countless hours as a greeter and usher. He embodied the ideal catholic man. He was without a doubt one of the greatest coaches to work the fields of El Centro .He was a gift to the pop Warner program . I was lucky to have both of my sons learn the great game of football under him . His development of young players paved the way for the success that central union football enjoyed for years . Teacher ,coach parent church leader we were blessed to have him in our community.
