DAVID JOHN
GUSTAFSON
Jan. 25, 1946 - Apr. 10, 2011
David Gustafson (Dave) was born in Port Hueneme, CA, on January 25, 1946, to parents Woodrow and Stella Gustafson. He passed away in Jacumba, CA, on April 10, 2011. He is already missed by friends and family, and as time moves on his friendship will be missed even more.
Dave was wild at heart and he loved the outdoors. Shooting, camping and fishing were among his favorite activities. He was a graduate of Central Union High School and Imperial Valley College. Dave's work adventures included a long career with the Imperial County Sheriff Department and later, ownership of a printing business in Imperial.
Dave's family includes his mother Stella; brothers Eric (wife Kathe) and Stuart (wife Darlene); sons David (wife Michele), Christopher (wife Andrea), Steven, and Richard; grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, and other relatives. His final earthly resting place is in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro, CA, although rumor has it that some of his remains are scattered at his father's resting place in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 20 at 10 a.m. at Imperial Community Church.
We miss you, Dave, and we love you. Rest in peace.

My uncle Dave taught me so much more than I will ever remember. He taught me the few things I know about welding and he was the first person to ever take me golfing one of his great passions. I will never forget spending the summer fishing with him at Blue Mesa Lake in Gunnison, Colorado. Me an my cousin Richard use to have the honor in assisting Dave take the 15 foot boat from on top of the truck (where it was transported - trailer and all) through a sophisticated winching system by his own design, which was always a sight to see. Countless people would stop him along the road while traveling, trying to figure out how he came to design such a contraption. I will never forget how great his sense of humor was, sometimes..okay almost always raunchy, but great nonetheless. I am sorry that I couldn't attend his service, but I felt compelled to share a few thoughts about a man who had a hand in helping me become a man.

The loss of Dave is felt by many. He was a wonderful Brother in Law and the best Handyman one could ever find. Thank you Dave for all you have done.

Dave was a great guy and lots of fun to be around. He loved the out doors and we had great fun camping in the White Mountain of Arizona with our kids. I worked with him in law enforcement and he was a good officer and got the job done when necessary. He will be missed by so many.... Our thoughts are with his family.
