HECTOR GALLARDO Obituary

Hector P. Gallardo passed away in his home on August 15, 2022 at the age of 69. He was born on September 24, 1952 in Brawley, CA to Luis and Lucila Gallardo. He graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1971 and attended Imperial Valley College and San Diego State University.
He enjoyed a successful career as a State of California employee, initially as an assistant PE teacher and bus driver for Brawley Elementary School District. He later went on to work for Employment Development Department and concluded his career with Calipatria State Prison in 2010. He was best known at work for his sayings (in his very loud voice) "How you doing?" and "You lazy bum."
In 1975, he married Mary Helen Garcia and they had two daughters. He always worked hard to provide an amazing life for his girls. After his retirement, he spent his days caring for his grandkids and planning fun weekend and summer getaways for them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Lucila Gallardo; brothers, Albert and Daniel Gallardo.
Hector is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Gallardo; daughters, Selina (Manuel) Salgado and Alyson (Conrad) Smith; nephews (who he considered sons), Eric and Craig Garcia; six grandchildren that were his absolute pride and joy, Elijah Salgado, Emily Salgado, Elah Salgado, Caed Smith, Kai Smith, and Cruz Smith; brothers, Louie (Elvia), Herman (Diana), Efrain (+Annie), Sergio (Grace), and Javier Alberto Gallardo; sister, Gloria (Alex) Zuniga; numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, beloved friends, and neighbors.
Services will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley, CA. Viewing will take place from 8-9 a.m. Rosary at 9 a.m. and Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Hector is and always be a great example in our lives he is a great amazing human being. I'm very great fully and honored to have my son Jacob David Martinez to be one of his Goodson .I also want to say my condolences to the beautiful family I admire Qur heats are very saddend we lost this great angel although he will always be in and always in our hearts. I had the pleasure of working with Hector at the Calexico Unemployment office. He was an awesome co-worker that always had a smile on his face. Hector went out of his way to help the clients and co-workers. Prayers and blessings to his love ones and may Hector RIP.

Hector , was super nice co/worker-friend at EDD with me . Always helping me & others in solving unemployment issues . Missed him when he transferred to Calipat State Prison . So sad, my prayers for Helen & family .
