HENRY REYES ROSAS
Oct. 8, 1943 Jan 13, 2022
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Henry R. Rosas. Many knew him by his nickname, Kiki
Henry worked as a lister contractor, in which he operated versatile machinery used for farming, creating the rows in fields, and the rows you see prepped for planting season. Henry took pride in his work, being ever so meticulous at his craft. Some might say he was a perfectionist, and with a good eye, eagle eye" is what some would call him.
Henry worked for several local businesses including John Elmore and Golden State, just to name a few. Throughout his lifetime he served the Imperial Valley beginning at the ripe young age of 10 tossing watermelons. By the time he was 15 years old, he was operating a lister on his own. His reputation and skills grew popular in the agriculture community that he would eventually start a business of his own, and call it, Imperial Valley Listers.
Henry was a great storyteller, always knowing how to keep us at the edge of our seat. He also enjoyed stopping by Panaderia Royal, and visit with friends and colleagues over a cup of coffee. Being surrounded by family, friends, and food was always a great time for him. It was having breakfast every Sunday morning at 5 a.m. with his children that he looked forward to and the feeling was mutual. Henry enjoyed going to Brownies in Brawley, CA, where they'd prepare his favorite dish, albondigas, just the way he liked it. The friendly staff and great environment was always so welcoming and pleasant. It was there that he'd rejoice in the familiar faces he'd come across of those he had the privilege of meeting or working for over the years. Henry would finish his Sunday morning by attending church. It made for a great start to the day, and the beginning of a new week.
Henry was born and raised in Brawley, CA. He later moved to Imperial, CA where he lived the remainder of his life. On the morning of, January 13, 2022, Henry was ushered into the presence of the Lord.
Henry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary R. Rosas; father, Pablo M. Rosas; brothers, Paul, Roy, Robert, and Raymond; sister, Eva; nephew, Robert Jr.; niece, Earlene R. Armenta; and brother-in-law, John Contreras.
Henry leaves behind a strong legacy of love and work ethic. A legacy he instilled and runs deep within his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother, and sisters. We love you, Dad, and we miss you dearly, every day.
