JANA SPIELER Obituary

JANA SPIELER

1966 - 2024

Jana Lee (Walker) Spieler passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 6, 2024. She was surrounded by her husband and sisters.

She was born on April 15, 1966, to Richard and Carole Walker of Westmorland. She was the younger twin and the 6th daughter. The girls eventually became known as The Walker Girls. Dick and Carole moved their large family of six girls to a bigger property on Shank Road, east of Brawley. The six sisters would call this their childhood home that is still known as the Walker House.

Jana grew up riding horses, participating in 4-H, gymkhanas and parades. She and her sisters would go swimming, then jump on horses in their bathing suits and go for a ride. Jana rode motorcycles and drove her dad's race car, the Baja bugs, and other pickups and vehicles around the property. She loved being in the truck yard and helping her dad. She loved to move the big trucks around the truck yard and up on and down off the wash rack. She was never intimidated by big equipment and took great pride in operating several kinds of heavy equipment. She was a very good driver.

After attending Magnolia and Mulberry Elementary Schools, Jana graduated from Brawley Union High School. She met Kevin Spieler in high school, and they were married on September 15, 1990. The couple had four sons (including twins) who were her greatest joy. The annual family vacation on Lake Powell was her highlight as she had many good times on the houseboat with her boys and other family members.

Jana was kind, always full of spirit, with a gentle and empathetic soul. She was also very intuitive; if she had a feeling about something, she was usually right. She raised Queensland heeler dogs and occasionally sold puppies. Jana had an unmatched love for country living which brought her great joy. Her life revolved around her husband, Kevin, their 4 boys, and their small ranch south of Westmorland. She was a loving wife, mom, sister, and aunt.

The loss of Janny-Pie leaves an empty chasm in all our hearts; she is so dearly missed.

Jana was preceded in death by her parents and dear sister, Karen (Auntie Kake) (KK). Her memory lives on through her husband, Kevin Spieler; sons, Justin (fiance Brooke), Chandler, Hayden, and Jeffery. Jana is also survived by her remaining sisters, Cindy (Joe) Vandiver, Rose (Pat) Patterson, Judy (Ben) Abatti and Dana (Bob) Presley; mother-in-law, Patricia Spieler; brother-in-law, Scott (Melissa) Spieler; and sister-in-law, Katherine (Bryan) Spieler. Also, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held on December 4, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
