Joe M. Sigala, 84, passed away peacefully at home in Calexico on January 19, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Joe was born September 22, 1928 in Brawley, CA and was married to his sweetheart, Concha Sigala for 63 years (1950). They were blessed with 5 children, daughters; Gloria (Catrino) Diaz, Josie (Larry) Luna, Alice (Saul) Duron, Sophia (Louie Hayasaka) Sigala and son, Ruben (Silvia) Sigala. They have 13 grandchildren, Isabel Sigala, Jose Torres, Lawrence Luna Jr., Lisa Diaz, Melissa Sigala, Johnny and Patty Lopez, Krystal Luna, Ruben Sigala Jr., Joanna and Daniela Duron, Cindy and Nikki Hayasaka. In addition they have 12 great-grandchildren. His kindness made a difference in each of their lives. He is also survived by his two brothers, Mike and Zeke Sigala; 4 sisters, Tonia Curiel, Dora Ruiz, Belia Klein and Nellie Ray.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Esperanza Sigala in 1991 and Saturnino Sigala in 1999.
Joe began working at Bates and Osborn Inc. in 1954 as a parts manager and retired in 1988. Joe was also self employed. He owned the 76 Gas Station, Sigala's Used Cars, and built his own Sigala's Apartments in Calexico. Joe was a hard working man and never missed a day of work, which was a work ethic he instilled in his family. He was dedicated to everything in his life. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, traveling, watching sports, playing at the casinos, loved his dogs, was in a bowling league (Sigala's Used Cars Bowling Team) and also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe always wore his favorite color, blue. Joe will be sincerely missed by all who filled his life.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico. Mass will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 8 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Burial will immediately follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

I'm so very sorry for the passing of Mr. Sigala. He will truly be missed not only by his famiy but also by his community family. I remember him as a quiet man with a smile that would always welcome you. You could see the wisdom that reflected from his eyes. You sensed the power of his thinking and how to make things better. Alice & Sophie, I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I was shocked to hear that he had alzheimer's. He was nice and friendly and always smiling. When I would drop my sister margaret to visit sophie , he would welcome her in and always smiling. You all are in my thoughts and prayers, We're so very sorry.
