JOSE HERIBERTO CHAVEZ
Aug. 15, 1940 - Mar. 8, 2014
A much-loved husband, father, and grandfather, Jose Heriberto Chavez, 73, of Calexico passed away due to heart complications on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at El Centro Regional Medical Center.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass is scheduled for March 29 at 12 p.m. at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Calexico. Jose worked in retail services for over 50 years at New Star Market, Pico Market, FedMart and Costco where he eventually retired. He was an avid baseball fan and played for Mexicali farm leagues during the 1950's. Jose loved to be surrounded by his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fermin and Pomposa Chavez; brothers, Julio and Fermin Chavez; and sister Soledad Terrrazas.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maria C. Chavez of Calexico; son Jose H. Chavez Jr.(Aurora Denise) of Calexico; daughter Maria de Lourdes Duarte (Anthony) of San Diego; grandchildren Jose Javier Chavez, Jossie Chavez, Melanie Romina Chavez, Nicolas Heriberto Duarte, and mother-in- law Hermelinda Corona. He is also survived by his sister, Elisa Chavez of Tustin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name can may be made to the American Heart Association.

Jose was a good hearted man. I will always treasure the friendship we shared as co-workers for 9 years at Costco. My prayers go out to Mrs Chavez and his family. Till we meet again friend.
