KAREN L. OCHOA

July 23, 1933 Nov. 29, 2022

Karen L. Ochoa, 89, died November 29, 2022, at home with her family by her side. She was born on July 23, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois.

Karen spent most of her childhood with her grandmother on a farm in Chicago, IL. Her happiest time as a child was living on her grandmother's farm. She graduated from High School of Commerce in 1951 in San Francisco, CA. She met and married Hector L. Ochoa in 1953. Karen was a homemaker, dental assistant, secretary, bank teller, and a proud police matron for the Calexico Police Department, while her husband was employed by GSA.

She was an active member of the Calexico Little League, Calexico Babe Ruth, and Boy Scouts of America, as well as a member of the PTA at Dool Elementary School.

Her hobbies and interests included sewing, reading, music, playing ball with the neighborhood kids on Encanto Drive, and being a die-hard sports enthusiast to the end. She devoted much of her time and energy to caring for and being involved in her children's activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hector L. Ochoa.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Raymond) and Diana (Alex); sons, Mark (Carmen) and Michael (Angie); twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Calexico, CA, with a Rosary reading beginning at 9:30 a.m. and Mass to follow at 10 a.m.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I will always remember Karen fondly as I worked with her in the mid 70´s at UCB Bank. She was funny and always had a smile on her face, she was professional yet witty at the same time. I have the best memories of her, she nicknamed me "fancy Nancy " and my dear friend Liz "dizzy Lizzy." We loved her banter with us.
Rest in peace my friend!!! Hugs and prayers to all her family as they mourn the loss of a beautiful soul
