LESLIE GILBERT
Mar. 26, 1962 - Aug. 18, 2011
After a long and courageous battle with Melanoma, Leslie went peacefully to be with the Lord whom she loved so much on August 18. Born March 26, 1962, Leslie attended McCabe School and Central Union High School. She worked at Ben Hulse and, most recently, Waggoner schools were she was loved by children, parents, and co-workers.
Leslie raised two beautiful children and was a wonderful "Nani" to her grandson, Tyler who was the light of her smile. She battled cancer with grace, courage, beauty and, most of all, hope. Hope for a cure but a more abiding hope that God is in control no matter what the earthly outcome. Leslie blogged her journey, where she inspired thousands all across the country. "Leslie's Celebration of Life" blog can be seen at www.mgilbert.net
Leslie is survived by her husband, Mike; her children, Ryan, Jenna and Jeff; her grandson Tyler; her parents, Bill and Besse Cones; her other parents, Frank and Jodi Gilbert; her siblings, John, Donald and Monica; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and more friends than anyone could ask for.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 27, 10 a.m. at Faith Assembly Church in Imperial. Lunch reception to follow at Frank Wright Cafeteria, bring Leslie's favorite side dish, salad, or dessert.
Leslie will not be forgotten.

Leslie was a truly amazing woman to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She changed the lives of all she came in contact with. "Well done, Good & Faithful Servant, well done". You'll never be forgotten. It was a joy and honor to be your angel during your cancer journey, but even more it was my pleasure to be friends. "Angel" Linda

Mike, Jenna, Jeff, Ryan, Tyler, Monica, and Bessie, I know how much we are going to miss our special little Leslie. She fought this nasty disease all the time remaining positive and inspiring all of us along her journey. I had the most amazing conversation with her just a few weeks ago and she was weak but had her treatment planned out, and knew that it was not going to be easy but she was ready for the battle... all the time still encouraging me even in her weak tone. God used her fully while she had her short stay here... I am sure she has a very important role in Heaven. I pray that you will draw strength from each other. We will continue to pray for you. God bless each and every one of you as you move forward.
