LILA KNUDSEN
MORGAN
June 29, 1933 - Oct. 17, 2013
On October 17, 2013 our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother made her journey to meet her lord and savior.
Lila was born on June 29, 1933 in Calexico, CA. The youngest daughter of Lilah and Andrew Knudsen, she was raised in El Centro. She graduated from Central High in 1951. Soon after graduation, Lila began dating Arthur "Art" Morgan. Art and Lila were married on June 20, 1951. Together they built their home and raised five children. Lila worked briefly for the County and the Railroad but ultimately chose to become a stay at home mom. She was a devoted wife and mother who served on the Mc Cabe School Board, taught Sunday school and was active in the Lutheran Women Missionary League. She dedicated countless hours to the El Centro Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, which was nearest to her heart. Those who had the privilege of knowing Lila knew her as sweet, sincere and kind hearted.
Lila is preceded in death by her husband, Art; son, Dennis; daughter, Mila; brothers, Norman and Robert; sister, Marie La Brucherie; parents, Andrew and Lilah Knudsen.
She is survived by three of her children; Mindi (Albert) Callens, Andrew (Karin) Morgan, Alan (Melody) Morgan; son-in-law, John Mattmiller; 12 grandchildren; Maci (Tyler) Mollring, Matt Hoskins, Willis Hoskins, Josh Hoskins, Megan (Brian) Henderson, Marin (Aaron) Tuck, Art (Lauren) Morgan, Krystle (Jason) Grondin, J.J. Mattmiller, J.P. Mattmiller, Alec Morgan and Kayla Morgan; 7 great-grandchildren, Claire Tuck, Cooper Tuck, Abigail Grondin, Elizabeth Grondin, Rosson Mollring, Lila Mollring and Hunter Morgan; numerous nieces and nephews.
