Lora Pennington passed on to heaven on Thursday, December 15, 2022. She was born Lora Lea Quinn in Tucson, AZ, on April 1941, to Lester and Ida "Buddy" Quinn. She lived all her life in the Imperial Valley.

She always spoke fondly of her years attending school at Meadows Union and Central Union High School. Lora was on the reunion committee for her graduating class of 1959 and known to her classmates as the "Banker. She attended her final class reunion on November 5, 2022.

Lora retired after 30 plus years from Bank of America. She began her career with Bank of America in Calexico on 2nd Street, where she was promoted to manager of the Imperial Hacienda Branch located by Robinson Ford. She was then promoted to Brawley Bank of America as manager and lastly transferred to El Centro Bank of America as manager.

Lora was well known throughout the Imperial Valley for helping many to start their first bank accounts as well as get their first home and business loans. She loved her job and all of her customers.

After retiring from Bank of America, she went on to work for Valley Independent Bank and Rabobank as a collections manager. She retired from both and decided settling down wasn't for her. She went on to work for Oswalt & Associates, managing their collections.

Lora was a very social person and loved to volunteer and participate in her community.

She proudly held the position of President of the United Way of Imperial County. She was on the Calexico Hospital Foundation many years ago. She was on the Blue Angel golf tournament committee, along with many others.

She was a member of the Eastern Star, American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and taught a cooking class for Jasper 4-H when her children were in elementary school.

Lora was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Oliver "Sonny" Quinn and Michael Quinn.

She is survived by her sister, Patsy Barnes; daughter, Pamela Stone; son, Gerald Pennington II; grandson, Taylor Stone; Canine granddaughter, Kaydee Pennington, numerous nieces, nephews, and God-children. Not able to include everyone, but Lora had so many lifelong friends that she loved and held close to her heart.

Visitation and services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2022, at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro, CA 92243 from 9-11 am. Service will commence at 11 am and officiated by Pastor Dennis Freeman. Reception to follow at American Legion, 569 Broadway in El Centro, CA 92243.
