LORENZO ORTIZ Obituary

Lorenzo "Chopper" Ortiz passed away on April 17, 2025, peacefully in his home surrounded by his beloved wife of 55 years, Avelina Ortiz, and children. Lorenzo was born on August 21, 1948, in Brawley, CA. He graduated from BUHS in 1967. In 1968, he met his wife, Avelina Holguin, who he married on May 4, 1970.
Lorenzo worked in construction most of his life, alongside his father and brother. He later worked at Pioneers Memorial Hospital for 12 years in security and engineering.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Christina Ortiz; sisters, Jessie, Bertha, Christina, Pamper, Yolanda, and Tilly; and brothers, Ralph, Louie, and Frankie.
He is survived by his loving wife, Avelina Ortiz; five children, Melinda Limbrick (Isaac), Michelle Day (Ryan), Monica Brooks (Mike), Melissa Serrano (Jose), and Lorenzo Ortiz Jr.; numerous grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Gloria and Lucy; and brother, Joey.
A memorial service will be held at Frye Chapel in Brawley, California on April 27, 2025, from 12-3 p.m.
