With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Marcus "Marky" Anthony Monzon. Marcus Anthony Monzon, 26, of Imperial, California, passed away on December 3, 2025. He was born on December 15, 1998, in Brawley, California, and was raised in Imperial, where he formed lifelong friendships and strong family bonds. From a young age, Marcus was known for his kind heart, easygoing nature, and ability to make others laugh, traits that stayed with him throughout his short life. Marcus worked as a Correctional Officer at California State Prison - Sacramento, a role he took great pride in and approached with dedication. He believed in doing his job well and carried himself with responsibility and respect, values that reflected the way he lived his life beyond work. Above all, Marcus cherished his role as a son, brother, cousin, grandson and uncle. His family and friends meant everything to him, and he was someone they could always count on, whether it was for support, laughter, or simply being present. He shared a close bond with his parents, siblings, and extended family and took special joy in spending time with his many nieces and nephews, who brought him immense happiness. Marcus enjoyed playing football and softball, he enjoyed wrestling, baseball, track & field, taking late-night drives, and spending time with those he loved most. He especially cherished game nights and karaoke nights with his cousins, moments filled with laughter, friendly competition, and memories that will be treasured forever. These simple yet meaningful moments brought him the greatest joy and reflected his love for connection and togetherness.

Marcus is survived by his parents, Mario and Carol Monzon; his brother, Jonathan Monzon; his sister, Jalynn Monzon; his grandmother; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved him deeply and will forever hold him in their hearts. Marcus will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his goofiness, big beautiful smile, big hugs, kindness, laughter, and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him.

A memorial viewing will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Imperial, California. A mass service will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Imperial.
